Europe HRC buyers watchful as mills push offers up

Tight supply was keeping domestic prices for hot-rolled coil in Europe high, with some producers pushing for further price increases, market sources said on Tuesday June 1. ArcelorMittal has increased its HRC offers to €1,170 ($1,428) per tonne ex-works, up by €20 ($24) per tonne. Offers of material from Slovakia, in the meantime, have been heard at €1,250 per tonne ex-works. Some market sources said that the price was higher because the supplier was able to offer August delivery, with a number of mills claiming to be sold out for thirdquarter rolling.
