Capesize freight rates fell further in the new year, continuing declines seen in the market since mid-November. In the Atlantic coal freight market, there was an uptick in fixtures between Colombia and Europe with four booked during the week. SwissMarine fixed two vessels on voyage at $5.90/t and $5.60/t, loading end of January or early February, while Oldendorff booked the Pantagruel on time charter, delivered immediately, at $5,000/day for a trip to Europe through Puerto Bolivar.
