APS On Street For Willow Island

Allegheny Power Service recently entered the market for coal supplies for Monongahela Power's Willow Island station. Bids are due Sept. 3. APS is seeking offers for an unspecified amount of coal to be delivered to Willow Island over a term of one or two years. Shipments would begin Jan. 1, 2003. The plant is served by barge, rail and truck. Typical specs for Willow Island include a minimum 12,000 Btu/lb. and maximums of 1.6 pct sulfur, 13.0 pct ash and 7.0 pct moisture. In related news, APS took bids Aug. 20 for deliveries to Monongahela's Power's Harrison plant (CD 8/15/02).
