Software makes shaft alignment simpler

Making its debut at this year's Nor-Shipping is a piece of software described as a "great help for anyone involved in the design, installation, maintenance and repair of propulsion shafts". ShaftDesigner was developed by Yuriy Batrak of Intellectual Maritime Technologies (IMT) in the Ukraine for Machine Support in the Netherlands as part of its service division in shaft alignment. The program was developed to bring together various pieces of software as no single program had been devised to perform all types of shaft-related calculations. It includes calculations to determine shaft alignment, whirling, bending, axial and torsional vibrations as well as coupled vibrations. One of ShaftDesigner's main strengths is the way it performs all these calculations from one graphically oriented base model.
