Nursing chronic patients- a veterinary nurse's involvement

WE all know how important pets are to their owners - our clients - and the provision of palliative care for pets with chronic conditions can be an important consideration for them when choosing a veterinary practice for treatment.In human medicine, many patients with a chronic condition requiring ongoing management will have a named nurse (or nurses) as a point of contact. This approach is not routinely implemented in veterinary practice, but along with building a sound relationship with the client, it can help improve patient health and welfare by checking and improving owner compliance.
