Crews on Maersk ships are clearly a fastidious bunch, but a recent economy drive has deprived them of one of their little luxuries. Last year some $70,000 was spent on providing the ships with paper napkins. Crew members at Maersk Line, the group's container division, proved to be the most enthusiastic consumers. Now management has brought the golden age of the napkin toacloseand instructed crews to use kitchen roll paper instead. The ships already carry kitchen rolls and the company calculates that they will be cheaper than napkins.
