Antarctic protection

Another new MARPOL regulation, to protect the Antarcticfrom pollution by heavy grade oils, was also adopted. MARPOL Annex I was revised to add a new regulation 43 to prohibit the carriage in bulk as cargo or carriage and use as fuel of the following oils in the Antarctic Area: 1. crude oils having a density at 15℃ higher than 900 kg/m~3 2. oils, other than crudeoils, having a density at 15℃ higher than 900 kg/m~3 or a kinematicviscosity at 50℃ higher than 180 mm~2/s.
