Coal markets were mixed in the week with the broader energy complex active amid heavy natural gas storage levels and a surprise hurricane that closed several refineries on the Gulf Coast. Three refineries in Port Arthur, Texas, were shuttered by power outages as Hurricane Humberto raced ashore in Texas. Humberto developed remarkably quickly - going from a strong thunderstorm to Category 1 hurricane in just 18 hours. That helped buoy products markets, but natural gas was weak as heavy storage continues to be more of a concern than storm potential. Gas in working storage is now matching year-ago records.
