Massey Q3 income slips, revenue beats estimates

Central Appalachian coal miner Massey Energy today reported third-quarter 2007 net income of 21.4 million dollars, or 27 cents/share, a drop from the prior year period when income reached 24.2 million dollars or 30 cents/share. While the company fell short of analyst consensus estimate based on a Thompson Financial poll of 34 cents/share, a 13pc increase in revenue beat Wall Street expectations.
