Hokuriku restarts Tsuruga biomass-coal unit

Japanese utility Hokuriku Electric Power has restarted its 700MW Tsuruga No.2 coal- and biomass-fi red generation unit after completing repairs and safety checks. Hokuriku resumed generation at the unit in central Japan’s Fukui prefecture yesterday after it was shut on 8 January because of a water drop in the exterior wall of a boiler. The utility replaced a damaged pipe and checked similar parts for safety risks during the shutdown.
