Norfolk plans to buy ex-RAF base

Norfolk CC looks set to buy a former RAF base, Coltishall, in a bid to boost the county's economy and create new jobs. The council's cabinet will meet on 11 June to discuss proposals to purchase the 600-acre site. The base was opened in 1940 and played a key role in the Second World War as the home of the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm and the hero pilot, Douglas Bader. 'We need to seize the opportunity now and work together to use this key asset creatively to benefit local people and our economy' said council leader, Cllr Derrick Murphy.
