Big drillship win for Hyundai

Hyundai Heavy Industries secured a drillship order from drilling contractor Rowan Companies last month in a contract worth S620M. The drillship, to be delivered in March 2015, is the fourth order from Rowan since June 2011. The deal also comes with an op- tion for a fifth same-class ship. At 229m in length, 36m in width the ship is based on Gusto P10000 design and has a maximum drilling depth of 12km. Rowan plans to equip its drillships with a second BOP for minimising non-productive time and 2,000ft of additional riser to enable operations in water depths up to 12,000ft upon delivery, all for an estimated extra $7 5M.
