DSME wins big drill ships order

Daewoo Shipbuilding Marine Engineering (DSME) has signed a deal with US-based Transocean to build four ultra-deepwater drill ships worth USD3Bn. The first vessel will be delivered in mid-2015, while the other four will be delivered at six-month intervals thereafter. To be built at DSME's Okpo shipyard in South Korea, the four newbuildings will be capable of operating at depths of up to 12,000ft (3.66km) and drill wells to 40,000ft.
