Arctech delivers first Sovcomflot PSV

The first of two multipurpose icebreaking platform supply ships for Sovcomflot, Vitus Bering was handed over by Arctech Helsinki Shipyard on 21 December 2012 four months ahead of schedule. This is the first newbuilding to be completed by the joint venture created on 10 December 2010 when STX Finland sold 50 of its Helsinki yard to Russia's state-owned United Shipbuilding Corporation. The second ship from this order, Aleksey Chirikov, is due for delivery in April this year and both will be deployed in the Russian Far East for all-year operations on ExxonMobil's $15Bn Sakhalin-1 project.
