Turning point' on sulphur limit

French shipowners have hailed as a "turning point" a decision by EU transport ministers to seek solutions for owners' concerns about the timing of the planned 0.1 marine fuel sulphur limit in the English Channel and North and Baltic seas. The ministers, at the EU Transport Council meeting on 20 January in Brussels, agreed to start talks soon on the implementation date. France and other member countries had expressed concerns that the planned 1 January 2015 introduction of the new limit could not be met.
