Subsea market driving growth crane capacity

Asked to imagine an offshore oil field, most people would picture an oil rig with legs attached to the seabed, but more and more oil and gas infrastructure is actually being installed directly on the seabed, rather than rising about the water in the manner of a fixed installation. The market for subsea oil and gas developments is accelerating rapidly. All of the equipment in a subsea development project has to be lowered to the seabed, more often than not by a subsea vessel with a crane. A crane is a subsea vessel's main tool. Without it, if the crane suffers a failure, or needs a spare part, a vessel can be off-hire for weeks and hugely expensive projects can fall behind schedule.
