Prototype GPS back-up success

A prototype resilient positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) system using eLoran technology has been successfully demonstrated, it was announced in March. The trials involving the PNT system tested the technology's ability to transmit mission-critical data in the event of GPS loss or failure. The trials were completed between 28 February and 1 March aboard Trinity House's Multi Functional Tender Galatea on the North Sea. They were conducted on behalf of ACCSEAS, a project that "supports improved maritime access to the North Sea Region through minimising navigational risk".
