Pitt Seam: Steady, future supply eyed

Pitt Seam coal markets showed little break-out direction this week, with slack buying activity dampening market momentum. Expectations for milder weather in the coming months could provide relief to utility buyers looking at more than 140 dollars /ton prices from the basin. In its latest Short-term Energy Outlook released Aug. 12, the Energy Information Administration said temperatures should be milder in August and September compared with last year, reducing expected cooling degree days during the next two months.
