Peabody Energy started construction yesterday on its Prairie State Energy Campus in Illinois as environmental groups again petitioned for review of the project's air permit. "For coal to be king again in Southern Illinois it has to be clean, and that is what the Prairie State Energy Campus is all about," said Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D) at yesterday's event marking the beginning of construction. The work begun this week entails infrastructure development for the plant site.
