Kentucky court orders Appalachian Holding sale

A Kentucky law firm taking control of Appalachian Holding Co. and selling up to 150 million dollars worth of its assets says the process is faster than a bankruptcy and was prompted by the coal market “falling off a cliff.” A court order filed May 27 in the Kentucky Fayette District Civil Court assigns James Frazier of the law firm McBrayer, McGinnis, Leslie & Kirkland with the duty of selling the assets, overseeing lawsuits, claims, legal fees and other functions.
