Amid turmoil, Ga. converts coal plant to biomass

As part of the shift in federal and state policies to curb carbon emissions and increase their renewable energy portfolios, Georgia regulators have approved a request from Southern Co. subsidiary Georgia Power to convert a 155MW unit at its Mitchell plant from coal to renewable feedstock.
