Synfuel roll-off hits Headwaters earnings

First-quarter earnings for construction and energy-technology company Headwaters were off 42pc from a year ago, with the expiry of the synfuel tax hitting the company's results. First-quarter income at Headwaters fell to 9.9 million dollars, or 23 cents/share, well short of Wall Street consensus expectations that the company would match its year-ago performance of 37 cents/ share. Without the expiration of the credit, earnings would have met these forecasts.
