RWE plans Dutch biopark

German utility RWE is planning to host a biopark to support the development of bio-based technologies at a site near its Amer combined heat and power (CHP) plant in the Netherlands. RWE’s 600MW Amer 9 unit was awarded SDE+ renewable subsidies to co-fire up to 50pc biomass earlier this year and has applied for additional funding to co-fire up to 80pc in the September SDE+ round, the results of which are expected before the end of the year.
