WPX widens world appeal

International visitors will be made doubly welcome at the World Pork Expo this year, as the show begins a new phase of its 9-years existence by seeking to promote its foreign attendance. They are being offered their own programme of technical conferences and farm visits to include in their trip. The first day of the event also has been designated International Thursday, with special features for attendees from outside the USA. "We received nearly 60 000 visitors in 1995 and they came from 51 different countries," says exhibition manager Gary Slater. "It will be hard to extend this already high coverage in terms of the number of countries represented, of course. Our 550 exhibitors also included many non-US companies. But we do want to confirm the true international status of the show by encouraging more producers from other parts of the world to visit us."
