Argus proposes changes and clarific ations to its cif ARA spot index

The Argus cif ARA index is for spot delivery of industrial wood pellets, where “spot” is defined as delivery within 90 days. The Argus cif ARA index is comprised of a volume-weighted average of deals done for delivery within a rolling 90-day window and a survey of market participants’ views of the price for delivery within the same rolling 90-day window. In the event that there are no index relevant transactions reported, the index is comprised entirely of the market survey result. Argus is consulting on changes to the methodology governing this index to adjust the way in which transactions are included in the assessment and to provide additional transparency regarding the composition of the market survey.
