The results reported in the manuscript by Sreeja et al. [2011] are not ill‐fully claimed. Nor it was done with an intention to adversely impact the future scientific investigations. The analysis of this geomagnetic storm started very early (almost in October 2009) and the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) Bz data was downloaded from the Space Physics Interactive Data Resource Centre (SPIDR). As we all know, the IMF Bz data present at SPIDR are obtained from the “ACE” resource. Indeed, the data given in “SPIDR” and the ACE Web site match well as we ourselves have compared the two on a number of occasions during our analysis of previous storms. Figure 1 shows the comparisonbetween the IMF Bz data obtained from both the Websites for the geomagnetic storm of 24–25 August 2005 to highlight the point mentioned above. As can be seen, the data agree very well.
