German refinery runs rise in August

German refineries produced 7.2pc more finished products in August than in the same month a year earlier, as the utilisation rate hit a year-to-date high of 95.8pc. Gasoline production was up on the year, mainly because output in August 2015 was limited at one of Germany’s key producers - the 301,000 b/d Miro refinery in Karlsruhe - after a fire damaged an FCC unit in early July that year. Gasoline output was also up on the previous month, as crack spreads for the product averaged around $8.8/bl in August, compared with $7.7/bl in July.
