US crude stocks down by 5.2mn bl: EIA

US crude stocks fell by 5.2mn bl to 468.7mn bl last week amid a sharp drop in imports, according to the Energy Information Administration (EIA). The draw was unexpected as most analysts had predicted a build of 1.5mn-3mn bl. Domestic crude stocks have declined in six of the past seven weeks. US refiners processed about 15.4mn b/d in the week ended 14 October, down by 182,000 b/d from the previous week. Refineries operated at 85pc of capacity.
