This year's analysis of Liner Intelligence's (www.ci-online.co.uk) world fleet statistics, on September 15, 2006, clearly reveals that the top-20 ocean carriers are continuing to power ahead. Moreover, no respite appears in sight up to the end of 2009. After that, there is plenty of shipyard capacity left for further orders - and these are still flooding in, so more of the same could lie even further ahead. During the three-month period up to end-August 2006, for example, a further 160,000TEU was contracted for delivery after January 1, 2010.
