The four ocean carriers serving the US mainland-Puerto Rico trade have benefited from improved freight rates recently. But, as Chris Thorby reports, after meeting executives at Crowley Liner Services, Horizon Lines, Sea Star Line and Trailer Bridge, the trade continues to be characterised by a large cargo imbalance, with a decline in both northbound and southbound volumes in 2005.
