'Mayday, mayday' has been the call coming from several liner companies working in the transatlantic trades over the last 12 months. The combination of slower trade growth in the headhaul market, a surge in the number of slots deployed and the start of several new services by carriers, eager to buy market share, softened vessel load factors and depressed freight rates.
