DOE grants 2.7 million dollars for hydrogen from coal

The Department of Energy provided 2.7 million dollars in funding to the University of North Dakota to create a National Center for Hydrogen Technology, which will develop technologies to obtain hydrogen from coal. DOE said hydrogen has the potential to solve at least two major energy challenges facing the US: depending on imported oil and the control of greenhouse gases and air pollutants, which are associated with the burning of fossil fuels, particularly coal.
