Middle East and South Asia traffic to expand fast

Domestic container traffic in the Middle East and South Asia will increase by between 91 and 157 between 2006 and 2015, up to 40.5 and 54.3 million TEU respectively, according to UK-based Ocean Shipping Consultants (OSC). Its report, 'Containerport Markets in the Middle East and South Asia to 2020', also predicts that transhipment traffic in these regions will increase by between 83 and 140 between 2006 and 2015, to 23.2 and 30.4 million TEU, and by a further 31 and 39 between 2015 and 2020.
