Modularity enablers: a tool for Industry 4.0

摘要

Technological explosion coupled with pressures of economic sustenance of product manufacturers along with growing environmental concerns have compelled the industry to come up with innovative solutions. Incorporating modularity in manufacturing and product designs is one solution to deal with the current situation. This paper attempts to discuss the enablers that go into creating modularity in manufacturing systems and products. It is envisaged that the contents of the paper will throw light on what manufacturers may expect as the industry steps onto the next generation.
