Volkswagen to up Brazilian cabotage traffic

Volkswagen looks set to invest BRL12 (USD7.2) million in a new, 70,000m~2 distribution centre (DC) at the port of Suape, in the north-east of Brazil. Expected to open in late 2009, the facility will be a boost for ocean carriers providing cabotage services, as car parts will need to be shipped from the company's main manufacturing plants near Sao Paulo (in the south of the country), as well as other parts of north-eastern Brazil.
