Carcase effects from a fast start

Feeding the weaned piglet for rapid early weight gains will establish good growth patterns through to slaughter without adversely affecting the value of the resulting carcase. An important question relating to piglet nutrition has been investigated recently, with encouraging results. The overall message from this British work is that there is no adverse effect on carcase backfai from pushing piglets hard at the stait in order to secure good growth right to slaughter weight.
