Understanding boar pheromones

These sex-odour chemical messengers are important factors in the control of reproduction and can also be used to limit aggression. During the last EuroTier exhibition held in Germany, many companies presented aids to pig reproduction in the form of boar pheromone products -- including one developed in South Africa. The questions have been asked, what exactly are these pheromones and how are they helpful? The term 'pheromone' was coined by researchers in the 1950's and comes from the ancient Greek words pherein (to carry) and hormone (to excite).
