A pictorial round-up of pig products unveiled at the latest show in Denmark, where environmental issues supplied one of the themes. Denmark's annual Agromek show brought out a crop of new products for the pig unit at its 2003 edition. In the following pages we review just some of the items introduced. Apart from a variety of aids to management and feeding, the innovations this year included several systems with an environmental theme. For example, novel machines were on show for separating slurry into its solid and liquid fractions. Slurry separation is of great interest in Danish agriculture at the moment, said a showtime note from the national agricultural advisory centre. Legal requirements in Denmark have supplied one important reason. The country's farming laws allow producers to have less land per unit of animal inventory where the effluent is separated.
