Finland’s Turku Regional Energy (TSE), a subsidiary of Finnish utility Fortum, is poised to break ground on its planned 150MW combined heat and power (CHP) plant in Naantali, Finland in May. The ?260mn ($298mn) plant will provide 150MW of power and 250MW of district heat, and will be operational in the fourth quarter of 2017. The CHP plant will be a multi-fuel facility capable of cofiring biomass with coal. “The boiler will offer us flexibility to burn up to 70pc biomass, primarily wood chips,” managing director Tapani Bastman said.
