Indian power plants’ coal stock levels — long a cause of electricity shortfalls — are showing signs of recovering. Coal stocks rose to an average eight days of cover by the end of January, power sector planner the Central Electricity Authority says. Rising stock levels are helping ease concerns of a coal supply crisis that emerged in November, when a cyclone interrupted deliveries of imports.
