Rail agency powers expand under new law

The US Surface Transportation Board (STB) is set for an overhaul after President Barack Obama signed a law that increases its size to five members and aims to streamline the rate review process. Obama signed the Surface Transportation Board Reauthorization Act of 2015, S 808, on 18 December. The US House of Representatives on 10 December unanimously passed the measure that the Senate had approved in June.
