The spate of consolidation among container shipping Lines bodes well for the sector in the long run and governments should put a stop to yard subsidies as there has to be further melding among shipyards. That is the view of the chief executive of Westports Holding, the largest listed port operator in Malaysia. "This round will finally make a decent change as it is not just realignment of alliances but also consolidation," Westports chief executive Ruben Emir Gnanalingam tells Containerisation International.
