SHIPPERS LOSE MOL COMFORT CASE

A group of shippers claiming negligence on behalf of MOL over the loss of cargo from the MOL Comfort casualty has lost its claim in a court in China. A court in Ningbo, recently ruled in favour of MOL and its underwriters, finding that the defect in the hull's structure was not the responsibility of the owner or operator. The ruling is particularly significant as it places a great deal of reliance on the Japanese government's investigation into the casualty.
