RCL swings to loss as freight rates weaken further

Thailand-listed Regional Container Lines incurred a net loss of Bahtl83m ($5.3m) for the second quarter of 2016 compared with a net profit of Baht55m during the same period a year earlier on the back of weaker freight rates. Quarter on quarter, however, RCL's performance improved as the Asia-centric container shipping line suffered a net loss of Baht243m in the first three months of 2016, it said in a statement.
