Italian premium pellet prices held steady week on week as demand remained low and the weather far milder than usual for the time of year. Bagged premium pellets held their range at about European dollar 190- 220/t as demand was muted. Although individual consumers have bought around 20pc fewer pellets than a year earlier, somewhere in the region of 100,000 new biomass stoves were installed in 2015, increasing the consumer base and curtailing the fall in aggregate consumption to 10-15pc, market participants said.
