Local biomass for Irish Moneypoint not feasible

Converting Ireland's only coal-fired power plant, statecontrolled utility Electricity Supply Board's (ESB) 915MW Moneypoint, to burn locally-sourced biomass is not "feasible", Ireland's energy minister Denis Naughten said. The future of the coal-fired plant and Ireland's two peat-fired power plants are under consideration as Ireland moves to meet its 2020 and 2030 climate change targets. The two peat-fired plants are considering conversion to burn biomass.
