Biomass can reduce GHG emissions: Study

Biomass may be the cheapest way to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions further beyond 2020, according to a study released by the European Commission today. The report, entitled Carbon impacts of biomass consumed in the EU: quantative assessment, was commissioned by the European Commission to assess the GHG emissions associated with biomass used in electricity generation and for heating/cooling in the EU under six scenarios over the period from 2010 to 2050.
