US wood pellet producers can benefit from rising demand in Japan, panellists at the US Industrial Pellet Association conference in Miami said on Tuesday. But the market must remain “cautious” and “wary of outpacing demand with supply”, US pellet producer Georgia Biomass’ chief executive Jim Roeker said. “Japan realises it needs baseload power capacity that can provide carbon emissions savings and so this represents a large-scale opportunity to supply biomass”, US producer Enviva executive vice president Thomas Meth said.
