Scant power of persuasion sinks Venezuelan tour

Senior Venezuelan officials met with Indian officials in New Delhi yesterday following a Middle East tour aimed at drumming up support for oil output restraints to strengthen prices. Opec and non-Opec producers are “conscious that we need a price-equilibrium and that we must act in a coordinated way,” said foreign minister Delcy Rodriguez, who was accompanied by energy minister Eulogio Del Pino. The two officials earlier visited Iran, Qatar, Oman and Saudi Arabia in the hope of forging a consensus ahead of an oil producers’ meeting in Algiers at the end of September.
