Lithuania encourages biomass sector

Biomass can help Lithuania achieve its goal of becoming an energy independent state, prime minister Algirdas Butkevicius said at the Nordic Baltic Bioenergy conference in Lithuania Tuesday. Lithuania is the sixth-most dependent state in the EU in terms of energy imports, and the increasing costs of importing energy is pushing the government to seek alternatives, energy minister Rokas Masiulis said at the conference.
